Carbon Fibre Plates
What Are Carbon Fibre Number Plates?
Carbon fibre number plates are number plates featuring a carbon fibre-style finish or pattern across the plate. They’re designed to give your registration a more distinctive appearance while retaining the familiar format of a standard number plate.
The carbon fibre effect we offer provides a textured, technical look that works particularly well with modern, sporty and performance-focused vehicles. You can customise your lettering style in our Plate Builder.
It’s worth noting that we do not offer literal carbon fibre number plates – only the lettering effect on a standard acrylic plate.
Are Carbon Fibre Number Plates Legal in the UK?
Carbon fibre number plates can not be used on public roads, only as show plates.
Carbon fibre plates do not follow the DVLA guidelines, so you cannot drive around with them on your day-to-day car. For road use, plates need to meet requirements covering things such as:
- Character size and spacing
- Correct font
- Reflectivity
- Visibility
- Approved materials and manufacturing standards
Designing Your Carbon Fibre Number Plates
Through our Plate Builder, we’re able to add a carbon fibre lettered effect to your number plates. Here’s how to do it:
- Head to our Plate Builder
- Select the ‘Show Plate’ option (we do not offer carbon fibre lettering for road compliant plates).
- Front, rear or both
- Size
- Plate material
- Font style
- *This is where you can choose your carbon fibre lettering.
You can also choose to add a border style, badges and even a slogan. Again, it’s worth noting that many of these options are only available for show plates and custom plates – they cannot be driven on the road as they are not DLVA compliant.
Why Choose Great Plates?
Great Plates gives you the freedom to choose a number plate that suits your vehicle rather than settling for whatever happens to be available locally.
Our plates are manufactured with attention to detail and are available in a range of finishes, including carbon fibre lettering styles alongside our standard, 3D, 4D and other options.
For plates intended for public-road use, we’ll always recommend choosing a road-compliant plate.
