Show Plates
What Are Show Plates?
Show plates are number plates designed for display purposes only. Unlike standard plates, they don’t need to follow DVLA regulations, which means you can pretty much do whatever you like with them!
They’re often used at car shows, exhibitions, garages, or even as props in photography and film. Because they’re not for road use, you can customise everything. From the font and colours to backgrounds, borders, flags, and even unique slogans or logos.
The main difference between show plates and other number plates comes down to legality and compliance. You cannot drive using a show plate, you can drive using a regular plate (this includes 3D, 4D, 5D, motorbike plates and so on).
In short, show plates are a way to make your vehicle or display stand out without worrying about legal restrictions. They’re fun, flexible, and perfect for when you want your plate to be as eye-catching as the car itself.
Where Can You Use a Show Plate?
Show plates can’t be used on UK roads, but they’re ideal for lots of other uses, like:
- Car shows and exhibitions – Stand out with a plate designed to match your vehicle.
- Garage or workshop displays – Add a personalised plate to your workspace or showroom.
- Business branding – Use custom plates for marketing events or promotional signage.
- Photography and film – Perfect for shoots where you want a custom reg plate.
- Collector’s cars – Give your classic or vintage motor the finishing touch at events.
